Three New Atlanta Charters Celebrate Opening Day

KIPP Vision Primary – APS

KIPP Metro Atlanta’s second elementary school, KIPP Vision Primary, welcomed its founding class of Kindergarten students this summer.  Former KIPP WAYS Academy teacher Dr. Wheda Carletos serves as the founding principal. The KIPP Vision Primary students share a campus with KIPP Vision Academy middle school. To kick off the 2013 school year, Atlanta Falcons player Sean Weatherspoon brought his SPOONful of Hope Foundation, in partnership with Walmart, to the campus and provided the students with Walmart gift cards for school supplies. 
The Globe Academy -DeKalb County

The GLOBE Academy is a dual-language charter elementary school in DeKalb County with tracks in English-French, English-Mandarin and English-Spanish. Its mission is to develop “globally-minded citizens who have the knowledge, skills and attitudes to affect positive change in our world.” The school opened at 2225 Heritage Drive NE, Atlanta, GA 30345, with grades K-3— a grade will be added each year through grade 8. 

West Side Atlanta Charter School – APS

Westside Atlanta Charter School, part of Atlanta Public Schools, focuses on language and literacy as the core of its curriculum. The school provides a comprehensive learning experience that emphasizes the development of leadership among students, while challenging and encouraging educators to grow professionally and personally. Westside Atlanta Charter School has forged unique partnerships with traditional local elementary schools to share best practices, and is located in a planned community on the West Side of Atlanta.
