Charter schools in Georgia made adequate yearly progress (AYP) at a higher rate than
traditional public schools. In 2008 75.9% of charter schools made AYP compared to 68.8% of
traditional public schools. Startup charter schools made AYP at a rate of 76.7%.
Charter high school graduation rates have also been higher than those for traditional public
schools. In 2007, 89.9% of fourth year students in charter schools graduated compare to 72.3%
statewide.
