Teacher

School: KIPP WAYS Academy

Job Description

KIPP WAYS Academy seeks experienced and energetic full-time teachers. The school day is from 7:30am-5:00pm.  In addition, students report to school two Saturday's per month from 8:30am - 12:30pm and summer school is held for three weeks during July.

 

Each teacher is required to perform the following duties:

* Plan and implement engaging lessons in content area that are linked to state standards

* Implement the KIPP WAYS Academy school-wide student management system

* Create and foster a positive learning environment

* Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents

* Attend all staff meetings

* Assist in development of curriculum standards and mapping

* Chaperone/plan local and out of state trips

* Assist with bus, lunch, and detention duties

* Teach non-core classes as needed

* Plan, organize, and/or sponsor extracurricular activities

* Serve on school committees as needed

* Perform clerical duties required with textbooks, instructional supplies, student reports and records, attendance reports, etc.

* Remain on call in the evenings for student homework help via school provided cell phone

* Believe deeply in the mission and values of KIPP WAYS Academy

 

 

KIPP WAYS Academy requires the following qualifications for all teachers:

* At least two years of teaching experience

* Minimum of Bachelors degree

* Experience/strength in content area

* Georgia Teaching Certification

* Commitment to and experience with underserved students

* Commitment to the design and development of KIPP WAYS Academy during its start up years

 

Special Education

City: Atlanta
School: Neighborhood Charter School

Job Description

The Special Education teacher will: teach resource classes for K-5 students; manage caseloads; assist in RTI data collection and monitoring; conduct eligibility and IEP meetings; work with classroom teachers to modify curriculum; collaborate with the Student Support Team to ensure early intervention for all students. 

Teachers will also:
* Commit to learning and implementing the school%u2019s conservation- and ecology-based curriculum utilizing a constructivist learning theory and supervise the implementation of such in the learning environment to support students%u2019 achievement.
* Engage in continuous professional development.
* Manage the daily operations and related responsibilities of assigned class(es).
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, community members and others to support and implement the vision and goals of the school.
* Work effectively with a diverse population.
* Participate in all necessary faculty and school related meetings.
* Work flexible hours as needed.
* Utilize sound budgetary management skills in determining classroom needs.
* Handle other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Certification in Special Education
2 years experience
