The Globe Academy – Director of Development

Summary:

Because we know that one of the common reasons start-up charter schools fail is because of a lack of funding, The GLOBE Academy’s Director of Development will hold an extremely critical role on the School Leadership Team. A partner in the Head of School’s execution of GLOBE’s Vision & Mission, the Director of Development will spearhead, organize, and manage all aspects of our annual capital campaign and annual funds. They will focus on building and managing all external partnerships and relationships, maintaining systems for tracking and reporting all donations and raised capital, ensuring 100% compliance with our charter and applicable laws. A successful Director of Development will operate with a high degree of influence and integrity, developing continuous opportunities for supporters to contribute to GLOBE. A strategic thinker and resourceful Doer with experience in the non-profit space, the Director of Development is a model reflection of our core beliefs and values in all school activities.

Primary Functions & Essential Responsibilities:  

• Monitors, adheres to and enforces applicable charter, state, county, and local laws and policies that apply to school fundraising
• Demonstrates regular attendance and is punctual
• Ensures the charter is implemented and the school mission and core beliefs are followed.
• Serves as fundraising/development thought leader, understanding school financial needs and developing, organizing, and managing school Capital Campaign and Annual Fund to meet/exceed them
• Attends Governing Board meetings and reports as requested
• Any additional duties or responsibilities as required of an effective operations leader, or as assigned by the Head of School

Qualifications

Education, Certification/License, and Other Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited university

Experience

• 3-5 years of documented fundraising experience meeting or exceeding annual goals of $5 million+
• Experience with annual funds (preferably with schools or non-profits)

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Skills required for successful creation, organization and management of Capital Campaigns and Annual Funds
• Strong community organizing and partnership building skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Require Physical Abilities

• Routine physical activities are required to fulfill job responsibilities
