The Museum School of Avondale Estates – Technology Support Specialist (DeKalb)

The Museum School of Avondale Estates seeks a qualified, dynamic, and passionate Technology Support Specialist for the 2014-2015 school year. The Technology Support Specialist will develop and maintain the current technology infrastructure at the school while supporting the staff use of this technology.

The mission of The Museum School of Avondale Estates is to inspire students, teachers, and the community to collaborate to develop strong critical thinking, interpersonal, and academic skills in our students, which will prepare them for real world success. The Museum School offers the accessibility of a public school with the organizational and curricular innovation of a museum school model. Beginning at the neighborhood level, students develop a strong sense of community, independence, responsibility, and respect for the impact of their decisions and actions on others. These skills will inspire them with the confidence to identify and manage problems at the local and global level.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Bachelors Degree; Degree in field of Computer Science or a minimum of 1 year working in a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with a diverse student and staff population preferred
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

Network Administration

  • Email assignment and Google Apps administration
  • Creating, monitoring and installing network users on local and shared computers.
  • Network copier administration, distribution and monitoring of staff codes.
  • Basic maintenance and monitoring of the Internet and internet traffic. Juniper firewall experience preferred.
  • Responsible for contacting outside sources for hardware maintenance issues.

Hardware and Software

  • Maintenance and oversight over all hardware and software implemented in the classrooms.
  • An understanding of how technology is being used and insight into how this technology might be implemented in new and innovative ways.
  • Software and App installation on classroom and teacher laptops and classroom iPads.
  • App purchases, installation, and budgeting based on classroom teacher requests and the best usage and implementation of said Apps.
  • Troubleshooting and problem resolution for PC and Mac hardware and software as well as Printer management.
  • Mimio/Promethean installation and troubleshooting.

Building Related Support

  • Security access software management.
  • VOIP Phone system management.

Vendor Management

  • Purchasing and planning of all technology needs both current and expected.
  • Managing vendors and contracts.
  • Copier contract management.

MAP Testing

  • Set up testing environment on Network.
  • Ensure environment is up-to-date and tested before testing season starts.
  • Create and submit Class Rosters for the entire student body ensuring all data is correct and updated before each testing season starts
  • Set up Computer lab and testing environment to ensure data integrity during testing
  • Work with Instructional Support Teacher to create testing schedule to ensure all students are tested within a three week period; Prepare necessary accommodation in advance while working with Special Education staff

Member of Facility and Technology Committees

  • Required to attend monthly Facility Committee meetings
  • Chair Technology Committee and work with parent volunteers related to technology at the school
