About the Position:
This is a unique opportunity to lead and grow Macon Charter Academy, a new public charter school in Bibb County, Macon, Georgia. It will open with grades K-5 in August, 2014, and add one grade per year through 8th grade. It will initially serve 600 students (100 per grade) and grow to serve a total of 900 students at full capacity.
Macon Charter Academy will be a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) accreditation. The School Principal will lead Macon Charter Academy’s Primary Years Program (PYP) in the 2014-2015 academic year. The Principal will also oversee the development of the Middle Years Program (MYP) as grades 6 – 8 are added in subsequent years.

The School Principal is the instructional leader and will implement the instructional vision of the school. Knowledge of and training in the International Baccalaureate program and curriculum is a plus. The Principal reports directly to the Governing Board of Macon Charter Academy. S/he will oversee the day-to-day activities of the educational program and is the first contact for teachers and parents. The Principal, in consultation with the Governing Board, is responsible for the hiring, training and evaluation of the faculty and staff. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the Principal’s work is done by the Governing Board.
