Description: Heritage Preparatory Charter School in southwest Atlanta seeks an energetic language arts/social studies teacher with gifted endorsement to teach sixth- and seventh-graders.

Qualifications: At minimum, a bachelors degree is required, as well as Georgia certification in appropriate field. Must have gifted endorsement. Must enjoy working with adolescents from diverse and often difficult backgrounds. Must be willing to use a variety of teaching methods to reach all students, including those who may be resistant to learning. Must have a positive attitude, a love of teaching and learning and a commitment to educating the whole child. Experience integrating curriculum, Common Core Georgia Performance Standards and effective instructional practices is preferred. Experience in creating standards-based lessons, units and assessments is a plus.

Responsibilities: Teacher is responsible for providing instruction based on model inspired by Outward Bound, expeditionary learning and the art of debate. Teacher expected to increase student growth and achievement by developing and implementing lessons and activities based on individual needs and learning styles.
